Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump has claimed on Monday that the US administration played a key role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Earlier on May 10, Trump took credit for stopping India-Pakistan military tensions amid ceasefire agreement between the two nuclear-armed countries.
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a 'full and immediate' ceasefire, which sparked criticism in India for the third-party intervention.
However, Foreign Secretary of India Vikram Misri addressed a press conference minutes after Trump's claim and said that Pakistani DGMO called Indian DGMO at 15:35 on May 10 and both agreed to stop firing and military action on land and in the air and sea.
Addressing media at the White House on Monday, Trump said that his administration played a major role in ending a dangerous conflict between two nations with lots of nuclear weapons.
Trump also said that he used trade as a negotiating factor to agree on India and Pakistan for the ceasefire.
