Digital Desk: Bijuli Prasad, the world’s oldest Asiatic elephant in the world, passed away on Monday morning.

According to reports, Bijuli Prasad, the oldest domesticated elephant in Asia, lived on The Williamson Magor Group's Behali Tea Estate in the Sonitpur district.

Reportedly, the elephant passed away at the age of 89. He died after suffering from age-related complications.

Bijuli was a living symbol of not only the group or the estate but the entire region. When he was a calf, the elephant was transferred from Dikrai Tea Garden to Borgang Tea Garden, where he soon became famous by the name Bijuli Prasad. He was brought and kept in the Behali Tea Estate after the Borgang Tea Garden was sold.

Many people gathered right after Bijuli Prasad passed away to pay the last tribute to the pachyderm.
