Guwahati: Magh Bihu is here and so is the festivity begins across the state of Assam as the people gear up to celebrate ‘Uruka’ to mark the beginning of Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu amid the coronavirus pandemic.
One could see huge crowd with people queuing to buy fish and meat to mark the beginning of Bihu with ‘Uruka’. People thronged markets to buy fish and meat to celebrate the day of feasting as they come together to enjoy a sumptuous meal in the evening with friends and loved ones.

A tradition that has been followed since ages, locals in Assam usually reach water sources to indulge in community fishing. On ‘Uruka’ markets are filled with various types of fish with different price range starting from Rs 400-500 and soar as high as Rs 35000-40000.

Fish like Chital, Barali, Bhokua in the Uzanbazaar fish market ranges from Rs 600-Rs36,000.
