The confiscated Burmese areca nuts are thought to have a net worth of about Rs 20 crores.

Digital Desk: News of a significant seizure of Burmese Supari at the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur surfaced on Saturday as the conflict in the state of Manipur continued.

During an operation, the Assam Rifles reportedly stopped four vehicles at the international border and recovered approximately 1.70 lakh kg of Burmese areca nuts that were disguised in 1700 sacks.

The confiscated Burmese areca nuts are thought to have a net worth of about Rs 20 crores.

In connection with the investigation, the Assam Rifles also detained four smugglers.

The recovered Burmese areca nuts are believed to have been stored for shipment from Myanmar via Manipur to other states in India.
