This incident occurred after militants fired on the truck they were driving in Jammu, killing five soldiers...

Digital Desk: The Indian Army has revealed the identities of five troops killed in a terrorist attack on a truck in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, on Thursday. The troops who died were Havildar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, Sepoy Harkrishan Singh, and Sepoy Sewak Singh, according to the Army's 16 Corps in Nagrota.

"The Whitenight corps stands in solidarity with the bereaved families," it wrote on Twitter.

The fatalities were assigned to the Army's Rashtriya Rifles regiment and were deployed for counter-terrorism operations in the area.

The incident occurred after militants fired on the vehicle they were riding in Jammu's Rajouri district, killing five soldiers and wounding another. Operations were undertaken to track down the offenders, but no information about the attacks has been released thus far.

The mysterious attackers took advantage of the area's heavy rains and low visibility, the Army said in a statement, adding that the army truck caught fire as a result of a possible grenade strike.

Political leaders paid their respects, with many expressing horror at the occurrence. "Terrible news of a terror attack in Poonch that claimed the lives of 5 army jawans in the line of duty," National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah tweeted. I strongly condemn this horrific crime and express my sympathies to the families of those killed today. "May the souls of those who have passed on rest in peace."

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and the leader of the AAP, expressed outrage at the soldiers' deaths and demanded harsh punishment for those "behind this cowardly attack."

The injured soldiers now are being treated at Rajouri Army Hospital.
