Digital Desk: After clinching victory in the Blind T20 World Cup held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Indian cricketer and Assam's pride, Simu Das, has returned to her hometown in Kothiatoli, Nagaon.


Her arrival was met with a warm and enthusiastic reception from various groups and organisations in the area, as well as the jubilant residents of Kothiatoli, who are thrilled by her remarkable achievement.


Hailing from Kothiatoli Kachari village in Nagaon, Simu Das has once again proved that physical disabilities are no barrier to achieving extraordinary success.


Coming from a modest background, she represented India on the international stage with distinction.  


Competing in the Women's Blind T20 World Cup, Simu brought immense pride not only to India but also to her home state of Assam.


The tournament featured teams from six nations, and Simu played a crucial role in the team's victory over Nepal in the inaugural Blind T20 World Cup.


Her outstanding performance, including a vital 68-run contribution, helped secure the championship for India.


Upon her return to Assam, the state government honoured her achievement with a financial grant of Rs 10 lakh.


Despite this recognition, Simu Das has humbly expressed her need for a job, highlighting her aspirations for a more secure future.
