Throughout his time in political office Trump has maintained that U.S. auto industries experience unfavorable conditions in international markets. The U.S. imposes only 2.5% duty on imported cars while European countries maintain a higher 10% tariff on American vehicles.

Trump has implemented a 10% tax on all imports from China through executive decisions which stem from his worries about fentanyl trafficking activities. The 25% steel and aluminum import charges will launch on 12th March.
