Digital Desk: A mother faced a devastating ordeal after falling victim to a broker's deceit, leading to the mishandling of her son's medical care at Dispur's Cosmo Medical.
Two months ago, 19-year-old Rishi Pandit was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after sustaining a severe head injury in an accident.
For advanced treatment, a doctor recommended transferring the young man to Patna, Bihar.
However, a broker named Babu, posing as a technician, manipulated the situation and admitted Rishi to Dispur's Cosmo Medical, promising his mother, Monika Deka that the treatment would cost only Rs 45,000.
On December 6, Rishi was admitted to Cosmo Medical. As his health deteriorated, the hospital placed him on a ventilator.
Despite this, the hospital authorities continuously assured his mother that he was recovering.
Tragically, this morning, Rishi's death was suddenly announced by the hospital.
Over the past 11 days, the hospital allegedly charged Rs 8,000 to 10,000 daily for medications and tests, as claimed by the grieving mother.
Monika Deka approached Dispur Police to report the exploitation by the hospital, but she received no assistance, leaving her helpless in her pursuit of justice.
