The anti-narcotics operation was conducted following Sarupathar police station case number 18/24, U/S-21 (c)/29 NDPS act, on March 4 at Halwating in Sivasagar district.

Digital Desk: Assam police have arrested 4 individuals with 1 kg of heroin worth Rs 5 crore in Sivasagar district, Assam. The operation was jointly carried out by the police forces from Sivasagar and Golaghat districts, led by John Das, additional superintendent of police (crime) of Golaghat district.

The anti-narcotics operation was conducted following Sarupathar police station case number 18/24, U/S-21 (c)/29 NDPS act, on March 4 at Halwating in Sivasagar district.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "Drugs worth Rs 5 crore recovered. In a joint anti-narcotics operation carried out by @GolaghatPolice and @Sivasagarpol at Haluwating under Sivasagar district, the following items were recovered: 2 Bolero Vehicles, 992.13 grams of heroin, 4 people apprehended. Good job, @assampolice #AssamAgainstDrugs."

The arrested individuals are identified as Pinku Debnath, Narayan Debnath, Baburam Konwar, and Rabi Jaiswal.

Earlier on January 20, Assam police arrested one individual and seized narcotics worth Rs 1 crore from Cachar district.
