Digital Desk: Cyclone Mandous began to form in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday morning. As the deep depression over the southwest and adjacent southeast Bay of Bengal expanded into the cyclonic storm Mandous, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued an alert for the beaches of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh.

"About 500 kilometres to the southeast of Karaikal, CS Mandous passed over the SW BoB. Around midnight on December 9th, to move WNW and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the nearby south AP coast "IMD has stated.
